The Need to Revive the Church in Kom

The Need to Revive the Church in Kom

The church in Kom has suffered a lot as a result of the socio-political crisis which started in 2016.

Belo has been more severely affected, leading to the dispersion of the church. God in Revelations 3 from verse 7 addresses the need for a revival in the seven churches in Asia, each plagued by a particular offense.

The church in Belo, like the church in Philadelphia has been infiltrated by people who claim to be Christians but are not. They have brought strife and division into the church and their ambition, selfishness, and lack of brotherly love have troubled the church.

There is thus a Need to Revive the Church in Kom. God in Rev 3, acknowledges the fact that the church in Philadelphia, like that in Belo, has little strength. He commends them for the fact that in spite of this; it has kept His word and not denied His name.

He therefore promises to make them, the pretenders and troublemakers in the church come and fall down at their feet and acknowledge that He has loved the church.

He also promises to keep the church from the hour of trial that will come to test those who live on earth. Below is the message to the church of Philadelphia in Itaŋikom.

Here, Choral christian talks more about the need for revival.

To the Church in Philadelphia

Revelations 3

7 “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

8 I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

9 I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you.

10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.

11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

12 Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name.

13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

English version. (NIV)

18 This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.

19 Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,c because he will save his people from their sins.”

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:

23 “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”d—which means, “God with us.”

24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
